Roofing on Fort Myers Beach, built for the barrier island
Metal roofs for the rebuilt and elevated homes of Estero Island, repairs for the cottages that survived, and the Town of Fort Myers Beach permit process handled for you.
Fort Myers Beach was flattened by Ian's surge and wind on September 28, 2022, and the island has been rebuilding ever since — most of it elevated, most of it with metal roofs, and all of it through the Town of Fort Myers Beach's own permitting, which sits on top of the Lee County and FEMA flood rules. We work with the town's building department and with the general contractors doing the rebuilds, and we repair and replace roofs on the homes and condos that came through.
What we install on the beach is almost always aluminum: standing seam for the premium look and the concealed fasteners, 5V crimp for the traditional beach-cottage profile. Steel doesn't belong within a block of the Gulf. Every roof goes on a sealed deck with high-temp self-adhered underlayment and clip or fastener spacing engineered for the beach's exposure category, and every one gets a wind mitigation report — on a barrier island, that report and the roof's permit history are what an insurer looks at first.

Working with the town and the rebuild
The Town of Fort Myers Beach issues its own building permits, coordinates with FEMA elevation requirements, and inspects the work. If you're rebuilding, we come in as the roofing subcontractor on your GC's permit and build to the engineered plans; if you're repairing or replacing on a standing home, we pull the roofing permit with the town directly. Either way the sequence, inspections and paperwork are things we've done many times since 2022.
Questions from Fort Myers Beach homeowners
Do you work on Fort Myers Beach rebuilds?
Yes, as the roofing sub on the GC's permit or directly with the town on a standing home. Aluminum standing seam and 5V almost exclusively.
Why aluminum and not steel?
Salt. A block from the Gulf, Galvalume steel will show rust at cut edges and scratches within a few years. Aluminum doesn't rust, period.
How much does a metal roof cost on the beach?
Higher than the mainland for access and exposure detailing: standing-seam aluminum typically $36,000–$55,000 on a 2,000-square-foot elevated home, 5V $26,000–$42,000.
Can you repair my condo building's roof?
Yes — see our commercial page. We work with beach associations on repairs, replacements and the wind mitigation reports every building needs now.
Do you handle the town's permit?
Yes. The Town of Fort Myers Beach permits roofing separately from Lee County; we pull it, schedule the inspections and close it.
Do you respond after storms on the beach?
As soon as the Matanzas Pass bridge reopens. Tarps first, in the order the calls come in.
